Read Jay’s Note to Physicians

A Personal Note to Urology and Men’s Health Practices

From Jay Richard

Dear Doctor,

I never imagined I would one day write openly about erectile dysfunction.

Like many men, I spent years navigating frustration, uncertainty, and treatments that did not provide lasting results. What made the greatest difference in my journey was not simply a procedure or prescription — it was the guidance of a physician who took the time to explain options clearly, answer difficult questions, and treat the situation with professionalism and respect.

After ultimately undergoing successful treatment and regaining a quality of life I feared was lost, I began reflecting on something important: even with excellent medical care, I left appointments with questions I did not think to ask in the moment.

Not because my doctor failed to explain — but because these conversations are complex, emotional, and often uncomfortable for patients.

That realization is what led me to develop the patient education guides you see here. They were written to complement the physician’s expertise, not compete with it.

My intention was never to replace the physician’s role, nor to offer medical advice. Rather, it was to create structured, respectful educational material that reinforces the consultation — something patients and their partners can review privately after they leave the office, when the information has time to settle.

Throughout the process of writing these guides, I consulted with medical professionals, interviewed other men who had undergone advanced treatments, and worked to ensure that the content supports responsible medical evaluation and informed decision-making.

If these materials can help even a small number of patients better understand their options, communicate more effectively with their partners, or return to your office more prepared for follow-up discussions, then they have served their purpose.

Thank you for the work you do. Conversations around men’s health are not always easy, but they matter deeply to the individuals and relationships involved.

Respectfully,

Jay Richard Signature
